Great design is in the detail

LIGNAPAL TIMBER VENEER, Ottó flooring

Nestled behind a Victorian-era residence, Hidden House is a contemporary sanctuary surrounded by a lush, vibrant garden. This award-winning project, a collaboration between Studio MKN and Eliza Blair Architecture, features warm grey timber flooring from George Fethers & Co’s Ottó collection in XVI Flint.

More generous than the industry standard, the 240mm wide floorboards add a sophisticated sense of space and luxury to the home. Crafted from premium European oak, the calming grey timber flooring flows effortlessly from the open-plan kitchen to the sunken lounge, creating a cohesive connection with the Mud Office-designed garden.

The subtle taupe tones and tactile matt lacquer finish of the Ottó flooring complement the home’s carefully curated material palette, which includes Fior Di Pesco marble, blackened steel, concrete, and rich walnut. This harmonious blend of textures and tones enhances the serene yet bold interior aesthetic.

Recognised for its exceptional design, Hidden House was recently honoured with the City of Port Phillip Design and Development Award for Best Residential Alteration or Addition. The project is also shortlisted for the 2024 Interior Design Excellence Awards (IDEA) in the Single Residential category.
