Designed by a Melbourne-based architecture and interior design studio, Carr, The International is Brighton’s newest multi-residential development. With its deliberate connection to the outdoors and refined design, this urban sanctuary celebrates its unique Bayside setting – and redefines the standard for luxury living.
Orientated towards much sought-after views of the bay, the symmetrical masonry exterior of the development is a striking, modern facade that gives way to organic luxury and homely comfort within.
The textured concrete walls of the robust architectural form soften into the abundant greenery around, while large glass openings and frames create inviting passages through to the interiors of the building. Intertwined with the canvas of foliage, the portals blur the line between the interior and the exterior as they provide homely solace for occupants while maintaining a clear connection with the surroundings.
The International celebrates the enriching role of natural beauty in the lives of the residents. And this deliberate link to the outdoors is what defines the organic luxury of the interiors.
While the effortless elegance of intentional minimalism emulates luxurious hotel surroundings, considered spatial planning that maximises outlook and natural light, and the incorporation of natural materials and organic colour palette, are a palpable nod towards the surrounding coastal landscape – and create a new standard for a lush residential setting.
This careful attention to detail results in a space that celebrates domestic comfort and elevates visual outcomes and tactile experiences through a selection of premium materials and textures.
Alongside the grey marble – a perfect backdrop to a modern interior – the omnipresent George Fethers Lignapal timber veneer used throughout the interiors forms the essence of the natural and refined look.
The Lignapal 163.14 Vibrant Oak in Grey Wash prefinished timber veneer brings a natural mixture of crown and quarter-cut veneer in a soft, contemporary colouring to match the luxuriously subdued colour palette. Incorporated across a variety of high-use areas – such as kitchen, scullery and robes – the veneer is finished with a durable coating, ensuring that the stunning visual quality of timber can be freely celebrated as part of the rituals of daily life.
